3 key reasons why Barcelona will win next season

The history of club football of last ten years is all about Barcelona. Despite being one of the greats, Barcelona was not that great last season. A club like Barcelona doesn’t have two consecutive poor seasons, therefore, it’s quite certain that they will come back more dominantly. Let’s see some reasons why they will win.

New manager, new era, new direction

Statistics say that Luis Enrique was not an unsuccessful manager at Barcelona, his number of trophies don’t lie. He has won nine trophies including two La Liga and one Champions League in only three seasons. Last season, his reign was outperformed only in the last season. His dissension with Leonel Messi also clouded his tenure.

The Catalan giants have assigned Ernesto Valverde the managerial role. Ernesto Valverde is not that much familiar with the football world. However, he is like a ‘Dark Knight’. Ernesto Valverde has managed Espanyol, Villareal, Olympiakos, Valencia, and Athletic Bilbao. During his reign with these five clubs, he managed 583 games. Winning 5 trophies with these second tier clubs makes him special.

Ernesto Valverde is an ex Barcelona player. As a player, he won the European Cup, and his manager was the legendary Johan Cruyff. Valverde is famous for his ‘Italian Touch’ defensive nature.

Future of Lionel Messi is settled

Throughout the whole last season, the Future of Lionel Messi was a point of a ‘storm in a tea cup’. Rumors were spreading that the world’s best player is leaving The Catalan giants. Paris Saint-Germain reportedly offered him £500,000 per week to join them.

However, Lionel Messi signed a new contract with Barcelona on 5th July. This new contract will tie him to the club till 2021. As Messi’s future is now certain at Barca, he can focus on the game more superiorly and Barca will be able to restore their former glories.

New right back

The number one gap in Barca’s defence last season the absence of a competent right back. Therefore, Sergi Roberto was forced to take the position of a right back for the whole season. Any tricky winger could put him out of position. His uncomfortable performances was a point of exploitation for the opponents.

Therefore, Barca was on the hunt for a new right back. The new manager Ernesto Valverde responded by signing Nelson Semedo, a 23-year-old right back from Benfica. Semedo is called the next Dani Alves, whom Barca are missing since his departure. Nelson Semedo is very comfortable with the ball and he possesses lightning pace. His ball control and aggression will prove to be a great addition to Barca squad.
