Chelsea faced Bayern Munich in their pre-season campaign International Champions Cup in Singapore. The Bavarians defeated Chelsea by a 3-2 margin where Rafinha scored the opener in the 6th minute and Thomas Muller scored twice in the 12th and 27th minute. On the contrary, Chelsea was able to only decrease the deficit. Marcos Alonso scored in the extra time of the first half and Michy Batshuayi scored in the 85th minute. Alvaro Morata made his debut in the 63rd minute and helped set up the late goal.
Is Christensen the next John Terry?
Andreas Christensen, the Danish centre back started today’s match against Bayern Munich instead of David Luiz and stole the limelight. All the Chelsea supporters were waiting for him to impress in the defence and he didn’t disappoint the fans. Chelsea conceded 3 goals but none of them was Christensen’s fault.
Except for Thomas Muller’s 27th-minute goal, he never was out of position during the match. There is a possibility that Antonio Conte will start Andreas Christensen instead of Gary Cahill with David Luiz.
Hope for Renato Sanches?
The whole world started talking about Renato Sanches when he got his first break for Portugal in EURO 2016. People started questioning his abilities when he moved from Benfica to Bayern Munich. Most of the time, Carlo Ancelotti used him to warm up the bench. His performance against Chelsea showed that he is not meant to be just warming the bench. He was confident, his footballing sense was superb, and his passing was too accurate to be true.
He already became a target of big clubs like AC Milan and Manchester United. If he gets regular game time, he can be one of the bests soon.
Is Ribery a superhuman?
Franck Ribery is 34 years old! “Are you kidding me?” is the question one should ask after hearing his age. He made everyone doubt his birth certificate after today’s match. His assist to Thomas Muller’s first goal was ridiculously good. He tested Cesar Azpilicueta on several occasions.
